ATC Assistant Acetate Waterfall Card

Today i`m adding this waterfall card made using the

ATC Assistant cd by Joanna Sheen

Although there are small atc waterfalls on the cd – the size of the atcs are prefect for larger waterfall cards

I love the green soft border design and used it as the base of each atc part and then printed the vase image on acetate and added using pinflair glue gel under the vase

The background paper was my first attempt at a backing paper using the MCS cd – which I made the image from Joanna`s cd into a JPeg then made the backing paper as a tile – copied it and made the second image faded to give a lighter effect

One thing I love about the ATC cd is the use of single images that you can make your own backing papers – this doesn`t need and graphics package can be done in just a word document

atc waterfall

To carry on the theme I added the acetate to the inside of the waterfall pulley – acetate has this clingy effect so with a little glue sits very well on the card

More Techniques Using The Impressibilities Embossing Die & Sanding

I wasn`t going to post today but following the interest of the impressibilities embossing die workshop yesterday

Click here if you missed it

I thought i`d add this piece I was playing around with this morning

I have taken a scrap of mirri card – embossed it with the gold side facing up so you get more embossing on the flower heads

Then I have taken a kitchen scawring pad as I couldn`t find my sand paper block – but have to say the pad worked well

And swiped it across the raised embossed parts to reveal the white part of the card

1

This just shows the pad – but use the green side

2

Then using some cut and dry foam I swiped some green ink across the design

3

Then polished it up using a tissue

4

It made for a piece that had a verdigris feel and I was very placed with my play

5

You might have different ideas – would love to hear any – but I hope this has given you a few ideas too

Impressabilities Embossing Die – Some different Effects And Splitting The Die

I have looked at these embossing dies for a while but wasn`t 100% as I felt they were limited in there use for me as I wouldn`t want the panel effect all the while

On watching them on a C&C with Sheena last week I found out you could split them and mix them if you wish which opened up so many different possibilities – which appealed to me

So I got 2 sets as I was shocked at how much they were – fab price and did a few different effects with the whole sheet before splitting one die

So take your Impressabilities Embossing Die

I have used some old decoupage snips that I use for anything other than paper and snip and release the small thin wire that holds the design in – there are a few dotted around

1

Then you`ll be left with smaller shapes you can add to your corners or where ever within your work

If using a magnetic mat you can really split the die down and use 1 flower head or add a butterfly – it`s up to you

2

Use the embossing die in the same sandwich as you would do the embossing part with the tan mat over the die then card then tan mat and place throught your wizard machines

These die would go through other embossing machines – although I haven`t tried it

Click here for workshop on step by step very detailed workshop on cutting and embossing on the wizard – you`ll need from step 10 for the embossing part

So first off is just a plain white card – I wanted to add although it hard for the camera to pick up

3

The same white card but spraying Cosmic Shimmer - Golden Fish

Shimmers are perfect for this as the shimmer gold mica part has fallen in the debossed part to give a different effect

4

This is white card with dry Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Pigment Powder wiped over with a dusting brush

5

This is a gold pearlescent paper I had lurking in my cupboard as the die said use on paper or lightweight card – although all the others were at least  250gsm card and worked fantastic

6

This shows old paper distress ink wiped over direct from the pad – one is embossed the other debossed so the pattern changes and you get more uses from the die

7

Just another photo of the same technique

8

This is just the corners placed on mirri card and gives a stunning effect

9

The full view

10

So I hope this has given you a few ideas and i`m sure there are many other ideas out there and i`ll look and adding some more some

Double ATC Cover

Today I thought i`d share this workshop & ATC

It uses the new ATC Assistant CD – by Joanna Sheen

I had only ever made a few ATC`s before this cd and I had so much fun – this design came about by mistake as I wanted to make a cover just as a 2 panel fold and when I put the image into my plain word document it made it wider

So I played around and did a tab and made a single tab inside – but me being me wanted to play more so I did one with 2 tabs so you could add more to the ATC

So below are the photo`s of the front cover

and also deep envelope which is a template on the cd

Then I have the pages as they go through the booklet – all pieces are from the ATC cd except the Geranium paper which is from the Cottage Garden Cd

d1

d2

d3

d4

So to achieve this I got up this image on the cd – then copied it using the snapshot tool

Click here for full details on a past posting about how I do this

I then pasted it into a plain document – in landscape and did this again till I had 3 ATC shapes – I made sure using the ruler as I guide that the first one was 2.5 inches wide – if it wasn`t move it to that size and then copy it with a larger image and paste – delete the larger one then you have 2 the same size

So once you have 3 ATC`s – make the middle one more squashed as this will be for the tabs

Print this out -  you could print on the reverse first so it gives a nice effect

a

Now fold the piece in half and then fold at the edge of the ATC page – front and back

Then fold between those 2 points in half again - see fold below

b

Then take your front cover edge and hold up and crease at the edge

c

The next piece has the fold in a v shape then do this again so you have another v

d

You`ll be left with this in the spine

e

From the inside this is how it will look

I have added 3mm red tape to the outside pink part of the tabs so they are secure together – do this on both tabs

Then decorate your ATC as you wish placing a piece of card front and back of the tab so it covers the tab and looks like it`s lose in the ATC cover when indeed it`s all nice and secure – again doe this on the 2nd tab

I know it all sounds like a bit to much for one ATC – but it`s easier than all the explaining – and just a fun way to present your ATC

f

Maybe try this on a large piece of card for a tab effect card – it just allows you to add different pages

Messy Rabbit Double Pop Up Football Pitch Card

This Messy Rabbit card came from the same idea I had for the stamps as it was perfect for the goal stamps – but unlike the original that was made up of strange measurements and a lot of messing around

So for this card I thought about it and used what crafters could easily made the card from as I think it`s an ideal card for a footy fan

Click here for the First Stamped Messy Rabbit card

______________________

So how I did the card using the Messy Rabbit cd

f3

1 Firstly I took four 7 x 5″ pre scored cards – they were from a value pack of 25 I got from a large craft superstore and just had in my craft cupboard

You need the to mark a long long but only 1cm deep – I make sure it`s the width of the goal post

Full instructions for next bit follow here , sorry thought  I had taken a photo of the next stage but it`s all covered in the workshop

1

a

2 I placed double sided tape around the edges of the pop up piece you have just made – ready to be placed inside another scored card

2

c

3 I find it best to make the tabs on the tape – you can just see them and then close the card flat ensuring the card is level all round

3

d

4 Then pull the tabs to secure the pop up part is secure in the card

4

e

5 Do this on the second set of card as you will need 2 pop up cards

5

f

6 I have then taken 2 sheets of grey pearl card and stuck them together to make a strong card base

6

h

7 Now take both of your prepared pop up cards and secure them onto the base card – I have done this with the double sided tape tab way to ensure you have the pieces in the correct place – you need the middle to be exact so they join at the centre

In the photo below I have turned one set of the pop up card over so you can see the tape front and back – once you have done one set just turn the other over and stick that

7

i

8 Now cut out the football pitch from the backing paper and place that in the centre of the card – I didn`t have to resize it just fitted with the 7 x 5″ cards

8

j

9 Then add the goal posts to each end and decorate the card as you wish with the favourite team colours

On the front I have made a panel to go over the centre and mat and layered it with matching card – also only attached the piece with double sided tape on the left hand side so it will open

9

k

10 Inside I made a whistle and added some cord to add dimension

10

f2

11 Here is the inside complete with goals and a messy topper too

11

f3

The whole reason I started my blog was to enter a competition running by Glenda – and in this link it shows the card and the Basic pop up technique

So click here for more photo`s of the inside and the peacock fan

Hard Back Book Using The Mega Nestibilities Dies & Glimmer Mists – WORKSHOP

Before I start I just wanted you to know I was going to try and sort the many postings into more categories – but then found the search box to add – so now if you need something , just type in whatever you are looking for and a few things will come up – it`s very useful I tried it on the 3D perfume bottle my first posting and it came up – just thought it was worth saying

____________________________

Today here is the workshop as promised – If you missed the posting about the book please have a look here as there as lots more photo`s of all the pages – just this workshop was getting to many so easier to click the link

The whole idea stems from the 4 pieces I have done since seeing the show on C&C last week – 2 ideas were on the show and 2 I have made up once I got playing with ideas – I thought it would be nice to add a photo of all 4 projects so you can see the journey to how I got to the book

110

For details on each project just click the name itself for each one

Book Card , Star Card , Parchment Booklet & Hard Back Book

1 The book cover itself – I used a matting of a topper and backing paper – these were just cut down using smaller dies as I cut into the spine when trying to make a page – still happy I did as I think it sets the front off

1

b21

2 Here you`ll see the inside view of the pages – the joy about this technique is you can make the spine bigger and add more groups of pages without them getting smaller in size if they were all stacked together

2b31

3 So take your grey hard board – the stuff that comes in the back of the card papers or many packs like parchment or vellum – I always keep mine so have a nice stash to hand

Take the largest die and draw around it ( not the right hand side edge ) – do this to the left hand side of the card

3210

4 Then when you get to the right hand side of the die make a little mark and then again with the measurement being the depth of the spine you want

434

5 Draw a line down the spine gap and then start to go around the die leaving the left hand side free – make sure you start and finish at the same corner point – I HAVE USED THE TOP POINT OF THE DIE FOR THIS POINT

544

6 Your shape should look like this – explaining it sounds difficult but seeing this photo makes sense of it all

655

7 Score down the 2 straight markings with a embossing tool

762

8 Cut the cover out – I have only done the cover this way as I couldn`t get the depth of the spine if I had just folded it and cut it in the Wizard – also this card brakes slightly when you fold the score lines so i`m sure it wouldn`t have worked

871

9 Fold the score lines to reveal the book cover – watch out for the cracking at the spine – if you wanted you could use a craft knife to ease the folding but I haven`t as later it will be covered

981

10 Now for the fun part – here I have use Glimmer Mists as i`m waiting for my Cosmic Shimmers to arrive – but I knew I wouldn`t be able to play today so I have used colours that are available in the shimmer range

Like all sprays with Mica in them they need to be got ready for use – I love the tips Glenda Waterworth uses in storing them laying down , seems to make mica easier to waken , roll them over and over on the worktop and then shake to ensure all the mica is mixed

If you spray from higher up you`ll get a fine mist or holding them close to your work will give you deeper results and also dribbles which add to the effect – this is often done by holding the finger on the spray to far forward so when you spray the liquid catches your finger and runs back down giving that splatter look – but I like that

So your inks are ready and best to work on a wipeable surface – that way you get to lift all the ink afterwards

109

11 Spray on your deep blue

11

10

12 Then the lighter blue

12

111

13 Your lime / bright green

13121

14 Then I have finished with the darker green – although the lime green wouldn`t be most peoples choose of colour it gives real depth and lift to your projects – and it`s the only colour that I have nearly all used up

14142

15 Here`s what is left on my clear mat

15151

16 Take a sheet of copy paper and lay it over the ink – work around and retrieve all the ink

16161

17 Here`s all the ink cleared up and although it`s not full , save it and use it again with another project and then you`ll have a backing paper full of shimmer and it`s helped get all the ink up with less mess

1717

18 Now cut your pages out for the book – I have done this in 3 sections

click here for workshop on how to make the book page if you didn`t see it

I have used the insert section from the Cottage Garden Cd  for the faded peacock pages- A5 Portrait and deleted the words using the interactive part and then printed on the reverse with the peacock backing paper from the Jayne Netley Mayhew Cd

Also I have edged the front and back page with Sakura gold pen touch - this set has 5 double pages in it and I have laid the pages so you get the blue one way and the faced the blue together on the next layer and then faced the green together so each pair matches – this way you get plainer for writing and then the peacock design for pictures or notes

1818

19 This set of 6 pages has the bolder peacock design from the cottage gardens cd as the cover and then I have add the 5 pages of plain with a peacock design to the side – this was done using the snapshot and placing into a plain word doc. and when cutting the page folding as normal so you can see the peacock to the edge of the die and then cut

1919

20 Measure the length of the page and find the middle and then I have marked 2.5 cm`s from the centre – with the large mega die the middle was 7.5 and the markings at 5cm`s & 10cm`s if that helps

2020

21 Now with a pokey tool – piece through the pages – I find this tool invaluable as it is very sharp and only makes a fine hole – perfect for the needle to be passed through and then makes for the pages not to move around like it would with a bigger hole

21211

22 Now do the same with the outside of the cover – on the spine – this time you`ll want rows of however many sets of pages you are using – on this project it`s 3 so at the same points 5cm & 10cm`s I used poke your holes

These marking need to be exact as the pages will go through them – the cover is a few mm`s bigger as you have traced around the outer rim of the die so just allow the same top and bottom within your measurements

22222

23 Now the only photo I didn`t take was threading the needle – take a long piece of matching thread and hold the 2 ends together – pass those through the needle eye and pull a little way down – this way you`ll have a loop at the half way point and no knots will be needed

So staring from the outside of your group of first pages , poke your needle through – remember to leave some of the thread still at the back

23231

24 Then go down the other side

24241

25 Once through now put the needle though the loop of the cotton and pull tight

25251

26 Now pass the needle through the book cover starting from the inside

I have starting using the middle row as I find that easier , come up and through the cover and pages and I then did that again so you have gone through 3 times – you must try to keep in the holes if not the needle will mark the paper with a little hole

26

26

27 Once you have got your needle on the outside of the spine , I have just poked it under the thread and removed the needle – keep the thread length there

Now do this process on the other 2 sets of pages – it sounds a lot of work and really it not , but it`s very satisfying

2727

28 I have taken all 3 cotton ends and knotted and gathered then all together in the middle – once knotted off trim the ends off

2828

29 I then took another piece of card and trim it to size and coloured it – also edged it in gold – place this over the spine to cover the threads

29

29

This is the book completed – the joy of this as I have said is you can make different size spines and also if it was a working journal you could already added lots of holes and cover the spine and just remove that and add more pages as and when your work is finished

b2

I hope you have enjoyed this workshop – as i know I have – it`s really taken me back to a book I made years ago

A useful technique to have in mind with crafting projects

Hard Back Book Using The Mega Nestibilities Die & Glimmer Mists

Well this morning I had a play with an idea that was sparked off by the Notebook I posted yesterday - click here if you missed it

After adding the parchment notebook to the forum – and seeing Sharon Duncan`s posting of a frame using the Cosmic Shimmers  , I asked what the frame was inked on and Sharon`s reply was the grey backing card sent in card packs

So I set about wanting to make a cover using this board as it fantastic when using these ink sprays as it doesn`t bend – I once did an 8″ scrapbook using the board and glimmer mists – click here for that workshop

I knew I wanted a spine in the book so I could put more pages in but didn`t know how to and still using the Wizard die  - I have done a very detailed workshop on this so will post tomorrow once I have written it all up – all 29 photo`s that`s not including these ones !!!!

Still the book ended up using a technique I learnt before even starting card making – lacing the spine and is so easy and I feel I really wanted to add this to my blog for anyone new to the technique as it`s very useful

Today was my last play day before pending work – but i`ll be pleased to be able to add the  Magical Messy Rabbit & cd samples whilst i`m busy

1 The front cover – I matted the peacock using the different size frames as I messed up on one of the pages so just used the smaller die to make a topper

1b12

2 The book uses glimmer mists but I have used colours that are in the Cosmic Shimmer range – I just couldn`t wait till mine arrived , only of my most used – I only have 1cm left in the bottle is the lime green – it`s a stunning colour not often thought to use but it just gives depth and brightness to your work but doesn`t look out of place , just a contrast with the other blues and greens

The peacock image is from the Cottage Garden cd - this front cover one is from the insert section and I have used an A5 portrait interactive sheet and removed the words

2b2

3 Like the booklet yesterday that was held together using ribbon through the spine , this technique would have needed 3 ribbons and would have been a bit much , so cotton is used and then cover under the spine cover – you could add more than 3 sets of pages – each of the have at least 5 double pages

3b3

4 This is the insert printed page – I was going to colour the white edge but like it after I had cut it out – the pages are made using the technique I used for the book card – click here if you missed that workshop

4b4

5 I printed on the reverse – some of these pages in this book are for writing on , others like this was to add photo`s or clippings etc – I wanted a working diary feel to the book

The backing paper was from the Jayne Netley Mayhew Cd and some of the pages were edged in Sakura Gold Pentouch - 6 in all the front and back of each set – here you can see the cotton through the centre of the page

5b5

6 Again another set of pages using the image from the Jayne Netley Mayhew cd

6b6

7 This backing paper was from the Cottage Garden cd and here shows the section of pages at the spine

7b71

8 Just the back cover that could have something added or not in this case

8

b8

Well I hope you like my book I made today , I just love that playing with ideas just makes me think of something different along the same lines , funny as I had the die and hadn`t used it until last week – i`m so pleased I have now and as I have said i`ll write this all up and continue to think of more uses

Here are all the projects together – though it would be nice to have them all in one place

Gift Voucher / Thank You Card – Using the Martha Stewart Punches

Well I have to say i`m rather chuffed about this design – if I do say so myself – Often I think up something and then adapt the idea , after seeing peoples response to the Wedding invite I thought what else could I do that would be of help to see – and with an idea I wanted to give Mum a thank you gift as she never wants anything if she on the odd occasion has come to help with Erin

_________________________

So if you missed the Wedding Invite here`s the link for that – click here  - it  has the workshop for the wrap in there too

picture-1356

And here is the link for the first project the Notepad – with full workshop – click here

223

______________________

1 So here we have the Gift Voucher enclosed within this card and this is the front of the card – done with matching papers and images from the Fashion Boutique Cd - the image is on cd2, I believe towards the back

It also uses the same style as the workshop notepad with the pages punched with the Martha Stewart Punches & the front page is printed on vellum

1198

2 This is the back view with the ribbon taken right through this time and another topper placed on the blue side of the card

2219

3 As the envelope for voucher had writing on I did another one using an envelope I had and as it was mine I thought why not dress it up so stamped with Brilliance ink pad using the Christine Coleman Daisy stamp

Also I used a piece of organza ribbon just as I was getting carried away

3316

4 I stamped onto a scrap sheet of card underneath so the stamp only caught half of the envelope & I added a matching liner like you get with the voucher

4413

5 Just a view of the inside of the voucher – I have covered the code up !!!!

5512

6 So on the back page of the card I have attached a piece of mounted backing paper to the blue card and then stuck the back of the envelope to that

6611

7 The voucher is then hidden for that surprise when it`s opened

7712

8 Then I have added another backing sheet that has been punched with the scalloped punched and like all the pages I have edged in silver pen touch

887

9 Then a piece of stardream card , punched again has been added – I was surprised that the card punched but it did like a dream

Then the sentiment was printed onto parchment and again punched too

I have used paper roses on the organza ribbon to finish the design off

9197

10 Then I printed the lady in a mirror image so she faced inwards and just cut 2 straight edges to sit nicely in the corner

10

106

11 Just a close up of the sentiment

11

1113

I hope you have enjoyed this design – I hope it gets you thinking , I for one just love giving things I have crafted and love the look on peoples faces , but with this they would just get that extra gift too – I always see a voucher as a double gift – so nice to receive but then you get to spend it too

Book Page Card – Using the Mega Label Nestabilites

Well I have to say I got this Mega Nestabilites at the November NEC show and tried it once and didn`t get the sandwich right and gave up – but after seeing the Crafting with Template show on C&C with Sheena I was inspired to have another go

I saw this most wonderful idea of an open book with lots of layers and I love the quickness of it all – especially as I plan to cut lots of pages and just store then ready to make a last minute card

I wanted to do an Easter card for my Mum & Dad – Dad retired as a Vicar 16 months ago although he still does a few services and sadly funerals , so I wanted the card with meaning but not to deep or to plain

In the family we have a love for Lilies and they are a lovely Easter flower , so that`s why I chose this stunning backing paper from the Joanna Sheen  Baby Love CD

The base of the card is a trimmed down A3 card which was white and I inked it with Tim Hotlz Distressed Ink pad – Corduroy

On the show Sheena cards was a single panel and then she made a little stand but I wanted a card with an insert so this fitted the bill

The lily layers have inked edges and I have added another layer using Antique Gold Stardream card and the top layer is parchment

I printed on the parchment and then held one of the dies over the words so I found the right size and as it would have cut it in the right place I did a pencil line and then cut with scissors – that way it was 100% where I wanted it – I then edged it as with the gold card with Sakura Gold Pentouch

11

Here`s a close up of the sentiment / verse , i`m not great with words but found this and it said exactly what I wanted to say , so pleased I found it

I finished the card with some thin Organza ribbon and paper roses

2

________________________

I know many don`t get to see the C&C shows and as I had the packaging and still have to really think when cutting a die I thought i`d add photo`s – it`s the best way I like to see what`s what

1 Take your large white emboss mat and place on in this case the magneticmat ( I was told to use that with this die at the NEC )

Now take your folded backing paper and place the folded edge on the inside of one long edge of the die – this is so it doesn`t cut the folded edge and then give you double the size of the die and your page

1a

2 Place your cut white mat on top & run it through your Wizard Machine

2b

3 Remove it from the machine and the cut board layer and you`ll have your page

3c

4 This is the large page for your book

4d

5 Just cut different size pages using different papers , card and colours

5

e

Assemble your book like I did with whatever papaers you chose

Reverse Stamping – How to make your own Block

Today I thought i`d add a small workshop on how the reverse stamping came about for me – it was my first time so forgive me if the techniques not 100% – it was just working progress

I know for the card I wanted the image to face the other way for the insert – so here`s the finished card and then how I did the stamping

__________________________

Reverse Stamping Workshop

1 Take an acrylic block – the size is up to you and stick a piece of ezmount onto the acrylic block

Then put your stamp on another acrylic block

1

2 Ink your stamp up – I have used Brilliance Ink Pad as it keeps a bit juicy once stamped – Staz on would dry to quickly for this

When I talked about this reverse stamping asking questions on the forum about it – someone said as the impression isn`t so clear use for the normal stamped image the 2nd stamp so you remove some ink first – that way the 2 colours will be the same tone

3 Now stamp your inked image onto the ezmount acrylic block

5 Then stamp it onto your paper or card – I wouldn`t use anything that was smooth , just like normal stamping

If you don`t use the 2nd stamp of the image ( I didn`t know that when I did this ) so I took an fine detail black pen and draw around the image – that way the 2 blacks matched in crispness

6 Just a close up again – you`ll notice I slightly caught the egdefrom the side of the stamp near the wand – as I had edged in gold the insert I covered the mistake by stamping a star and the wizard dust stamp
